Leo used to go to the Moose. In response my question, "What the heck is the Moose?" Ed said:
ReplyDelete"Uncle Leo used to go to the Moose Lodge on Spruce Street, Waltham. At one time my brother, Ernest, was the Governor of the Waltham Lodge. The Moose: "An international organization of men and women, dedicated to caring for young and old, bringing communities closer together and celebrating life." I was never a member, but I have visited Moose lodges in Waltham and in Florida. I have noticed that the lodges in Florida are much larger and have more members than those in the northeast, but this seems to be true of Elks Lodges, American Legion, etc., probably because of the greater number of retirees in Florida. All lodges usually have a bar, game rooms for card playing, billiards, etc., plus dining rooms and entertainment halls."
